1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

I remember this wreck, he's even luckier that it happened in practice. If all 43 cars had been out, he wouldn't have lived.

The angle that he hit the wall reminds me of the Ernhardt crash at Daytona. Makes you wonder whether the changes made after might have saved the lives of these two.

Another thing, is that the damage to these two looked a lot worse than Dale's car, as I remember it. In fact, I was very surprised at the amount of visible damage to these two.

That's because when these two crashes occurred, the cars were still largely based on, and still included a large portion of their road going counterparts.  ;)

Dale's car and today's version of the car share only the roof panel. The rest is a purpose built race car. Kind of defeats the name of "stock car". :'(  ::)

Waltrip's crash was in 1990,  but I was wrong about Harmon's crash, it was 2002, but still before they got the safer barrier.

The one before Waltrips that I was thinking of was Rusty Wallace's fun ride down the straight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1ib5bxdOrc
