AN-124 Off Road

Postby OVERLORD_CHRIS » Fri Mar 19, 2010 9:38 am

Was messing around on my phone at work and saw this video:

But while looking from my computer I saw this from the news, looks like it is related:

Aide from that, this is very impressive for a plane this size :)

Wasn't the AN124 designed to land on unsurfaced runways? So it could go anywhere?

Neat video though, driving it out of the mud.

Try that with a Boeing or Bus and it would end in tears.......Power, strain, snap, thump  ;D

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Good thing there was probably frost in the ground.  I have personally seen a -124 leave ruts in 12 inches of asphalt, I can't imagine taking one in the dirt.  On the plus side, with 24 tires it has pretty good weight distribution.
