In Wisconsin, a North American T-6G landed on highway 41 due to engine failure!!! The highway was full of cars!

I heard somewhere that at one point a law had been passed saying that one mile in every ten (or something like that) of US highway had to be straight so that it could be used as a landing strip. Not sure which president was in power at the time.

Nonetheless, this is indeed rather spectacular.

Can you imagine? you're driving on a peacefully highway and suddenly a plane landing in front of you?  

Was that part of the Oshkosh Airshow on the 23rd?

That was part of the initial Eisenhower Interstate System. One mile in every five had to be straight for such use in peace or even war time. The Interstate System was actually originally designed for army convoys.

I'm sorry but that simply isn't true.  The whole interstate being used as landing strips in case of crisis is just a myth.
