What's that a little over two minutes in, were you writing clearances on you hand? ;D ;)

Very nice, my favorite flights so far have been VFR on top flights, or flights right through the tops.  It gives you a nice sense of speed, like flying through a canyon or something without the fear of airplane and rocks meeting.  Then, lining up on the ILS a couple miles out while still above the clouds, and you pop out right on the center-line (or close ::)), it's great. 8-) ;)

I assume you filed IFR, but I gotta say, that is about the best a VFR pilot could hope for in terms of getting on top... benign puffies at a good altitude, with decent gaps between... and another layer of cumulus above to keep it interesting.... I was spellbound watching that. Been quite some time since I flew anywhere at that altitude.

You could give Groucho a run for his money with those eyebrows... LOL!!   :D

I was filed when we took off ( 2-mile vis and some rain)(Mobius is right, I scribble clearances on my hand..lol), but when we got up near Findlay, we came across those conditions... I wanted to explore and split the layers, so I cancelled and finished the flight VFR.

You're right..  that combo of cloud layers, VFR, is rare indeed... And unless you're close to your destination, you don't wanna do a lotta VFR flying like that.. If you have to stay on course, it can swallow you up in a hurry  :o

Yup. As benign as that looks, it can change quickly.
