Kerbal Space Program

Postby HarvesteR » Mon Apr 16, 2012 12:48 pm

Hi,

Long time since I last posted at SimV.... I've been rather busy with work, and thought it would be cool to share with everyone the results of it. As some may recall, me and my brother Moach majored in Game Design a few years ago, and last year, I had the opportunity to develop a game concept of mine for real.

It's called Kerbal Space Program. It's a game about building rockets and spacecraft out of a selection of parts, then flying them in an attempt to get out into space without exploding or crashing. The flight simulation is physics-driven, and there are true orbital mechanics going on too.

The game is not complete yet, but it's already released as an open alpha. There is a free Demo version you can download, and the full version is also available for purchase at the store. :)

Here are some screenshots of it:

I'm sorry if this post comes across as plugging. I just wanted to share this with everyone. :)

Let me know what you think.

Cheers

Wow, it's way more advanced since the last time I tried it! Looks pretty nifty!

Thanks guys! It's always nice to hear positive feedback, especially coming from here. :)

I think a proper thank you is in order, to all of SimV. After all, it was the aftermath of the 737 Experience (which only saw completion because of the patience and helpfulness of fellow SimV'ers) that inspired me and my brother to get into Game Design as a career.

8 years later now, here we are. :)

Thank you guys!

and Cheers!

I downloaded the demo, and it's really fun!
I'm sure it'll turn out to be a great game!
I would buy it, but I'm saving for a DSLR to get started in photography, so I don't really have the money now. :-/
How are you doing the alpha and beta testing?
Are you accepting applications?

Thanks guys,

The game is being developed as an open alpha, so at this point, pretty much everyone is a tester.
Right now though, we're not updating the demo anymore, only the full version.

We try to do releases as frequently as we can, so there are always new features to play with. The next update is set to go up early next month, and it will add a new facility at the space center for building aircraft and space planes, a proper runway also, and possibly some other things as well, depending on how things go.

Cheers

Ok, cool, do you know when the next price increase will be?
I'm debating buying it, but not decided yet.

Hmm, the price isn't planned to go up at least for the coming updates... Although I'm not the one who makes that decision (well, not alone anyway), so I can't say for sure. We should have at least a month or two at this price though. :)

Cheers
