Nice pics. I'm sure your rig obliterates mine since mine doesn't look as good.

I bought the game the day it became available on Steam, and I must say I'm having a blast  :D

You're right about the flight sim realism... it's lacking in several respects... my biggest peeve is the autothrottle feature on fixed-wing aircraft, that cannot be disabled as of yet... hopefully a mod or patch will fix it...

You gotta hand it to BIS, though, since the game is much much more than just the flight sim... It's the "every-game", a game that can range from an RTS to a flight sim to a shooter... it's a very ambitious undertaking... and when one considers the amount of effort it takes to pull off a project like this, this game deserves a standing ovation...

games like these should be right up there with the big releases... like GTA IV or RE5... sadly that's not the way things work these days... the big games are, well... disposable... after the allotted 30-40 hours of game time, you can just forget about it... A game like ArmA 2, however, has the potential of lasting you years  :D

I think BIS deserves all the praise for their awesome effort in this project... this iteration has amazing graphics and ambiences, and doesn't sacrifice any of the previous features for it... many thumbs up for them!!  [smiley=thumbsup.gif] [smiley=thumbsup.gif] [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Cheers

Auto-throttle is being made optional with the upcoming patch, HarvestR.

I think the flight model is quite good for a combined-arms simulator. Things that need to be addressed dearly, are things like acceleration and yaw authority.

Brilliant shots Jeff.

I heard about the new patch shortly after posting!! FINALLY!!! I've been waiting for this since Operation FlashPoint :D :D :D

You're right about the other problems with the flight model... helicopter flight is also a bit weird... but one has to remember that it's a multi-sim... not a dedicated flight simulator... and I'm happy the simulation is already that good...

BTW, the shots are indeed awesome!!

Hmmm, I think the yaw authority is fine (atleast close to it). Realistically, flying at 400+ knots the FCS is going to dampen it down to virtually unnoticeable...plus, its probably the quickest way to tear apart your aircraft. NWS could do a lot of work though, I don't think its actually possible to steer the C-130.

Never had a problem with the auto-throttle though, actually, I didn't even know they had implemented it.

My biggset concern is still the environment though. As large as the game world is, its much, much too small for an aircraft combat zone. Even with the the visual distance maxed out, targets pop up and wizz by in a matter of seconds.

Oh, and even a typical traffic pattern takes you off the game map...and without any sort of navigational instrumentation, landing is damn near impossible...:P
