Props in composites?

Wondering if we could have a tutorial on how to implement moving propellers in our composites. Cutting out jets is pretty straight forward, but how do you implement the many fantastic aircraft here with exposed, whirling propellers? (Or rotors if you want to cover helicopters.)

Delving deep into the studio archives produced this....

An extremely complicated way of doing it.......

Simple way ....... cut out the prop on the original screenshot, after you've moved your aircraft cut out over, it doesn't have to be accurate apart from where it meets bits of the aircraft. Move it onto your composite as a new layer and slip it into place. Now manipulate the colour/hue/saturation and type of layer till it gets the result you want .......... repeat as necessary.

Eno,

Since the prop would have some transparency due to its spinning, how would you modify what is seen through the prop for the composite with your method?

It's all about using the layer properties and occasional brushing stuff out and cloning as well as the above mentioned manipulation of the hue and colour etc.
It's more trial and error than the other method, but less hassle than using several sources and attempting to warp a static image.

An example or 3 below :D

i sometimes use that method but it depends on how i feel.

The way that eno sugested i used the original props and then just used the smudge tool over them. they came out alright.

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to demonstrate your methods. It's been very helpful.
