WINNERS, WINNERS, WINNERS

Judge Barbr says :

"Okay, well, here are my favorites -- there were things I liked about every single shot, and I think any of them

deserved to win. In the end, I just went with what called out to me the most... but I wanted to congratulate

everyone on their great photos.

[size=72]Harold!!

"If You See This... Run!"
This was a unique shot in its simplicity -- no stunning sunset, lightning, strong contrasts or shadows... and it

didn't even comply with the directions to have "cloud coverage between the plane and the ground." But, it won first

place because the clouds simply came to life -- they were as much a part of the primary subject (as much as the

plane) and I did not feel like the clouds were just backdrop. The clouds looked mean and boiling... as if they were

mopping up everything right behind the jet plane that swooped out from above the clouds.!!

CONGRATULATIONS Harold!!!!

In second place, Spectre177

"Into the Sun"
There were a few other great photos of planes right next to the cloud layer, but this really had a special place in

my heart... I could just feel the tranquil silence as this plane pierced the thick clouds, and as Spectre

mentioned, got a glimpse of the "warm" sun... but the clouds really "made" the shot. The sharpness of all the

textures, the way the light bounces off the plane, and the nice tail/wing lights that shine through the dark clouds

were all parts that I really appreciated! Great job!

In third, Eno

"A pilot enjoys the pure exhilaration of flight."
Just a terrific, photogenic shot. The clouds were beautiful, and as others have mentioned, it looked "like a

photo." The tilted perspective was really creative, and I especially liked the darkened sky!

Great job everyone! Thanks for the challenging opportunity!

Barb"

Nice work on a great comp!

Judge Harold steps up to the bench next week! Congrats to him and the other finalists, and great job to all that
entered. :)

Cheers

Good luck everyone, I am looking seeing what this talented group will create!

;D Also, that opening cartoon of a judge was a bit of a grumpy old guy, and I'm more like:

That's funny, because before I posted this, I was looking at pictures of judge Judy. ;D ;)

Aww, well thanks for thinking of it! I'm a bit younger than Judy, though  :)

Soaring Angel

"An Angel, soaring over the clouds like it's namesake."

"ANGEL"

This shot makes me feel a little proud, it has some nice qualities that show how I've improved over time as a screen-shot artist.

I'm trying to convey a mood of serenity, and calm. The nice puffy clouds give a safe, protected feeling, while the soft purple and orange colors sooth the viewers eyes. :)

Thanks to Travis for the wonderful Angel! ;)

;D As much as I would like to think so, the real heavies haven't stepped up yet. ;)

Into the Sun

I was trying to capture that feeling of backing out into the sun from a dark overcast, and the warm colors that convey a dusk flight.

Familiar Guardian:
http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/dauphinsun21.jpg

Pictured is a Eurocopter AS365 "Dauphin/Dolphin" helicopter. In the backround are the mountains of Oahu, in Hawaii. These two things have been such an enormous part of my life in the past and present, that I thought it would be fitting that I portray them here, immersed in a tropical sunset.
The Dauphin/Dolphin has been a major part of my life from the beginning, due to a relative using them in some form or another as part of their flying career. The portrayal of part of Oahu reflects the island of my birth, and where I was raised for part of my life. These two things will forever be treasured pieces of my upbringing, and in my opinion, have defined who I am.
