Stupid Question:
Just how late are you willing to go as far as aircraft are concerned. I know of a few that I would consider "classic" but they entered service in the late 1960's, and usually had the most success in the mid 70's.
I know of people that could go either way on this issue, so I am looking for a definitive answer for this contest. I would personally not go past the year 1970, if using the "first entered service" qualification but I was just curious.
Boeing 727 (1963)
Boeing 737-200 (1968)
Boeing 747 (Pan Am was the first to use them in January of '70. Obviously the 100 model.)
Boeing 707 (roughly 1958)
BAC 1-11 (roughly 1961, but its prime was late 60's- early 70's)
HS121 Trident (about the same timeframe as the BAC)
Tupolev Tu-124 (1962)
Tupolev Tu-134 (1967)
The previous is just a sample, and I tried to reference first operational years with airlines, not just prototype flights.
Thank you for any clarification,
-Sean
