My next store neighbor past away in September, As a World War II veteran, he served in 5 European campaigns during the war, including Normandy (first drop) and the Battle of the Bulge.

As part of the massive airdrops in support of the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944, 1,000 C-47s provided the backbone of the airlift capacity and delivered 60,000 paratroops and equipment in 60 hours.

My tribute to Robert Krug: a lone C-47 flying over The World War II Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial which is situated on a cliff overlooking Omaha Beach and the English Channel in Colleville-sur Mer, France.
