I'm sorry if this seems a little oversimplified, as most obviously know how to do most of this, but there are some that don't. I know when I first joined and started I was a little lost myself, and the question does get asked every now and then. This is my first tutorial so I will show step by step how I post an image using XP and IE7. If you have any questions on any terms I use please ask. ;)

1.First choose start new topic in the desired forum section:

Image

2.Then choose upload image:

Image

3.Next select browse:

Image

4.Then select your image(you may need to browse to the proper folder)
and select open:

Image

5.You should now see this, select upload:

Image

6.After a couple of seconds this screen will appear:

Image

7.Now click and hold the Left mouse button and highlight the link:

Image

8.next, click the Right mouse button and select copy:

Image

9.Now go to your post and click the Right mouse button again and select Paste:

Image

10.Your link with IMG tags should now be there:

Image

11.Now add your title for the post and text above or below the link:

Image

12.To check your post before it is posted select Preview:

Image

13.And when everything is how you want it, select post:

Image

And that's about it! ;)
Hope this helps

I always thought uploading screenshots was pretty straightforward, so i'm not sure why people have such a hard time :-?

What I really don't get is how someone can figure out how to use their own image server, photobucket, ect, but not SimV's simple upload form

Yeah I realized as soon as I hit post that I shoud have put this in the Studio. :-[ ...(Presents hands to mods for smacking) ;)
Flying Trucker was a little confused, so I made this for him and thought it would be a waste to throw it away.

Maybe, but where would it be stickied? there's nowhere relevant to it.. The only place this belongs is here and 99% of members who visit this forum know the upload system inside out...

I can ask the question, but I wouldn't hold your breath...

Actually we used to have a sticky of it in Freeware and since there are a lot of new members it doesn't hurt to have it around I think

Sticky it in here

Another little tip that I do to make things a little easier and faster is to have the Simviation upload site open in another tab. Then copy and paste from from page to page.  ;)

Sticky it in here

There's too many here, the page would be too cluttered.. IMO

Thought of that too..... I think the most logical place to look for a upload tutorial would be in the tutorial library... that is where I had a look for it

I would have to agree. It was difficult to understand at one time but since the upload script was changed it should be a piece of cake. After your images have been successfully uploaded all you have to do is copy the code & paste it into your topic. This is the point where some people seem to come unstuck. From what I've seen the main problem is unfamiliarity with the basic features of their browsers. All the popular browsers have their own little differences which makes it difficult to give more than general advice.

One thing I should perhaps have pointed out when I first spotted it. This instruction on the Upload Images page is no longer necessary & could cause confusion when people first start posting images.. "Please use the 'Insert Image' button in the forum when posting images."

We all have our favourite methods of working. It should automatically open in a new Window. I dislike working in tabs.
