Rip This...

A rather incongruous shot of a mark 22 spitfire taking off from Ketchikan (did I spell that right?) - the scenery is 'misty fjords' by Holger Sandmann. Payware, but worth it!! :o

Don't be too harsh... this shot's one of my best, IMO.... ;)

In keeping with your wish of not being too harsh..here's the positive points I see in this fine pic.
It creates a solid sense of speed and power, presented in a uniqe perspective. The angle really screams power..great sky color and a perfect cumulus cloud in a perfect spot above the aircaft. The aircraft looks in proportion even with this challenging perspective. Nice paint...overall a pretty nice pic.  :)

I have nothing to rip. Great angle, color and location.  ;) I see the whole plane as well as a bit of the scenery which balances out everything. Clouds are wounderful around the aircraft but it gets a bit off at the other end of the runway. That isn't a big deal though. The lighting is great and gives a great color to the aircraft.

Ah, yes... it has been said before, will say it again... the plane is far too clean... if it was clean, it ought to have the decency to reflect and shine some... as for the scenery... you say that is Holger Sandmanns Misty Fjords? Holger does really nice work... show it off. This shot is pits for scenery. the angle and lighting is such that it could be any default scenery.

Would be better if you set the time back a few minutes, doubled up cloud layers, and moved the camera angle down and to the left so the wing wouldn't be touching the hill.

Being in Alaska, you really want to focus on the scenery, not on the plane. Believe me when I say Alaskan scenery is far prettier then any plane you coyld imagine. Focus on Alaska in Alaska, and leave the planes for someplace like Albuquerque. Rule of thumb: taking a shot in a scenic location, show of that scenery, man! ;)

That is an interesting point; however as you may or may not have seen this shot was my entry to screenart wars round 1 and had therefore to fit a specific theme - in this case take-offs. I just thought showing a little bit of nice scenery might give me the edge. ;)
