What exactly do you guys find essential? What (freeware) cloud textures, ground textures, aircraft/textures are the best of the best out there.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would call me a screenshot master  :D, but to my knowledge the freeware packages for FS9 which I have used and consider worth trying are:

Ground - bluesphere, lennarts, VOZ, silver wings, golden wings perhaps if you like ancient aviation and fancy setting it up... ::)
Airports - Airport Environment 7,  Real Environment pro also has some alternative textures, VOZ and Silver/Golden wings too...
Autogen buildings - Koorbygen/VOZ, other replacement packages for certain regions
water - real environment pro, ashars water, perfect water, morewater, inlandwater
sky - fsskyworld, real environment pro, perfect sky

There are more but I didn't keep them long...

As for planes, I usually just search at any site for the plane I want and 'photoreal repaint'. Screenshotart.com has some amazing repaints by Yago and Bananabob + others, though a lot are for payware planes, though not all.

If you are really serious about screenshots you need payware though, Ground Environment (or GEPro) and Active Sky 6.5, Flight Environment too is great.

Don't forget about mesh, and LANDCLASS files, they make a big difference  ;)

Hope this is helpful

For FS9, BlueSphere and maybe RealEnvironment.

For FSX: Nothing.

To be honest? You don't need anything...

...the vast majority of my shots (except for the plane, and on some occasion the scenery) are almost completely default...

...you just have to have an eye out for what looks great... ;)

Plane textures?

Avalon and Sekiu for the default C-172!

There are loads of interesting paints for the Coral F-15 some also here at simv ( might have to do a bit of CFG altering when downloading older repaints for the V2 package)

Get the  Warhawks FA-18E or F  package here at simv

These are roughly my favorite paint schemes... though go t screensht art for some stunning GR4 paints... if they are still there :D

It's all about the way you manipulate the camera rather than what you're using.   An old addage (All the gear no idea).  Anyone can take a pic of a great looking photoreal plane against photoreal scenery but it's how you present it that counts.   F1 view is great freeware enabling zoom and camera panning with the mouse, this is used in conjunction with the +/_ keys and will give you an added dimension to your pics.

FS skyworld as mentioned is amazing!
VOZ (Vista Australis) is amazing but an enormous download!
FSrecorder module is essential.. This will open up a whole new world not just with recordings but with extra really effective views.

Maybe some of this helps I hope.
