OK heres my starting image

I had to transfer it from the original file type (.png) and I still got the Windows on the side. How do I fix that?

My advice would to be run FS in full screen, would get rid of the windows bar while in game. As for that image all you can do is crop it.

There isn't much you can do.... cropping isn't allowed in the competition :-/

I have some recommendations also:

As I can see, you're running FS2004 with Photoshop and iTunes there :o don't do it because those programs are memory hogs and you will not be able to move all sliders to the right without losing FPS ;)

Try to close extra stuff like Xfire and MSN messenger... ONLY run FS.

Download FSScreen: http://www.simradar.com/File/2791/FSScr ... n_1_1.html and shoot with that only hitting the PrtSc button. The  bmp images will be saved in the folder you extracted the program. After finishing, close FS and start photoshop, then resize to 800 wide and compress to 100k max.

Cheers! ;)

Agreed. I personally only run FS2004 with Xfire, and possibly Ventrilo running. Having all those other goodies up will ruin your frame-rate if you don't have a nice computer  ;)

Also, Maximize your Flight Sim before taking the screeny, telling whoever needs to be told to hold on for a second while you take the picture (You have no idea how many times I've had a screenshot ruined by that  :-/)

I second that motion, only I use screen shooter by Dennis Schagen (see avsim), which saves it as jpg or bmp, and use ACDSee for resizing etc.

If the plane is in the centre of the shot, and it is 800x600 then it is a 'standard competition shot'. What the organisers don't want to see is shots which are of non-standard size ie 800x450, because the gallery will look all bumpy and messy if you win. There is also a concept floating around that cropping is 'cheating' because you cut off boring sections of the shot, so....

....I would just crop off the bars if you must take shots with them in, but make sure the plane is in the centre or it will 'look cropped'  ;)
