I just got Photoshop Elements 5.0 and I am still getting used to it. I edit frquently and many people have told me that the shot would look more realistic if the aircraft was more shiny or reflective.

hmmm, yeh thats a tough one. It is really hard, im not really great at it...but I find the best way is to use a Brush, set on Dodge mode (white) and simply draw one when you think the 'shine' should be.

Heres an example, not great but the only edit i've done that i still have saved ;D

OK, so heres the aircraft before shine...

And here it is after a bit of work...

Just have a play really, infinite ways of doing stuff in photoshop...

That can be done in two ways:

1. Edit the planes textures. Specifically the alpha layer, so the plane gets more shiney in the sim.

2. Drawing in reflection in photoshop or another image editing program. Most people use the dodge tool to draw in highlights. Here is a nice tutorial about using the pen tool to apply dodge. You should also check out this WIP to get a general idea of how to use the dodge tool. (This is the final result)

Good luck! ;)
