OK. Here's my second set of screen shots. This is the Alphasim SR-71 Blackbird at Edward's AFB in FSX (stock scenery). Here are the questions I have for this set:

The textures looked fine up close, but stepping back they got blurry (See pic 5). I tried to deal with it by getting the camera to a distance / angle where the blurriness would go away and it seemed to work alright but it was a pain. Are there any simple things I can do to the textures to make them remain crisp at a distance?

The landing pictures (Pics 4-6), they seem to be alright, but they don't seem to convey the majesty of the aircraft in the way that I think they could. What could I do to spruce those up a bit?

Any other general comments on the shots are welcome too!

Very nice but you might wanna start posting them in Payware from now on ( Unless the Sr-71 is freeware in that case post in Freeware) The Studio isn't really the place for these shots

I think if he wants feedback than he would get a lot more from the studio than from the freeware/payware forum.

I think their nice shots and blackbird is great.  to convey the "majesty" try taking the shot at dusk when its darker to go a long with the "black" bird theme.
As for the textures, i unfortunatley suffer from the same problem.

I had considered doing it in the evening, perhaps I should go back and check out how it looks. I decided to do daytime for the contrast. Putting the black plane against a light blue background seemed to accent the lines of the aircraft really well in the first three pics. Reanalyzing the pictures, it looks like I lost some of that definition on the last three due to the angle. The delta wing and the far outboard position of the engines sorta gets lost in the shuffle. Maybe an early evening shot would highlight the lines while still preserving the contrast. I'll have to check it out next week.

I'd definitely agree with you Splinter - lighting isn't such a problem in conveying the Blackbird's majesty (but lighting helps any shot), but choosing a new angle is vital instead of having the plain, 'side-on' approach. Perhaps take it from below the nose and slightly to the left or right of the nose (such as the first pic here).
