Pull the Moon in...

Postby BAW0343 » Wed Aug 09, 2006 2:58 am

Well I was searching a few pages back and found a thread i made which included shots of the moon. Also in the thread Clipper asked me to make a Moon tutorial. Well i figured it was about time I did that  ;D

So your flying along, and all of a sudden you notice the moon, full or not it looks nice and you want a picture with the plane in it. Well how do we do that? Here are a few methods:

#1. For those who dont have Walk and folow, active cam, or the freeware F1 view, and recorder module, this is for you. Place your tower view in a clear location in view of the moon. (Hit alt, go to world then map and move the tower icon if you didn't know) Then move your plane into the line of vision between the tower view and the moon. Make sure your watching from the tower view. Also make sure the plane is far enough away either by moveing it side to side, or forwards and back, and up and down untill you reach a desired location, zoom in and the moon should look quite large. Also note that you move the plane while in Slew mode if you need to.

#2. I'll explane as if you were useing F1 View as thats the only program I have. Ok so go into spot view and line the plane and the moon up. Now use your scroll wheel on your mouse and move out really far so that the plane and moon are roughly the same size, or however you want it. Then zoom in and re-align as nessisary. Verry easy to do. And verry effective.

#3. The recorder module can use either of those methods depending on what view you are useing. Is spot view i have found a good distance for small GA aircraft is 400ft but you may want something diffrent. As long as the camera view is far away from the aircraft and you zoom in the Moon will be nice and large  ;D

Something elce to keep in mind id the quality of the moon itself. The default moon is absolutly horrible when you zoom im, IMO, The Perfect sky full moon is a little jaggy however the FS Sky World moon is absolutely fantastic.

I hope this will spark a new flare for some up comming screenshots  ;D

Die Kalte mond in fuller pracht,
erd die schrie in der nacht,
Und kein engel steight herab,
Nu der regen weint am grab

The cold moon in full splendor
there is a cry in the night
and no angel climbs down,
only the rain cries on the grave.
Cheers,
Doc.
