THAT's editing!!! that's a realy beautiful shot we've here.

I think we need experts advice from experts editor, and nexus is welcome to tell us his secrets, it would realy be of great help...

apart from that, I really like that helicopter, I actually worked on it, at their very beginning... the one I worked on's serial number was 14 or 17 I can't remember... we had many troubles and did replace the fuel tank, one engine, did lots of crack monitoring on the fenestron, did a mod on the aft rotor transmission shaft...she didn't even had 400 flight hours! it was good time...

Well you know the saying " A magician never reveals his secrets"

Too bad I'm not a magician but just an old webdesigner who grew tired of it  ;D

This edit came out really well because of the colorbalancing. That's all there is, the reflection on the windshield is just extra topping.

I have a swedish version of photoshop so I dont know what the correct terms and labels are in english.
However, I used a function called "selective color balancing" extensively. This allows you to finetune blues, reds, yellows, whites, neutral(grays) etc.

The problem with taking shots daytime in FS is that it constantly seems like someone has put a grey filter over the shot, reducing the contrast and color saturation.

I know many uses "autolevels" which partly tries to correct it, but if you allow people to scrutinize your work they will quickly see that you took "the easy way out".

What I did for the shot above is to fine tune every color you see so they match eachother and blend in. Took me a few hours but the result is pretty good.

And for the windshield, a simple lensflare (without HALOS!!!), and some color and level changes at selected parts of the lower windshield to give extra depth to the windshield.
Also added the exhaust fumes.

Hope that explains it.
IMHO, a good edit is not knife-sharp pictures, but a sound well balanced color spectrum, at least if you want to make "realistic" edits.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm thinking of putting together a good editing tutorial step by step, but I'm in the middle of apartment switch so I dont have the time at the moment.

If there is enough intererest then I'm more than willing to do it.  :)

Ashar, hope you have another set of pants with you  8)
