Hmmm....Would this sharpen my pics?

I was wondering if decreasing my resolution to 800*600 would make my shots sharper because then I wouldn't need to re-size.
Is this true? or am I just crazy? or am I so crazy that I would ask the Question, "am I crazy?" ?

Airshow, I think the end result of decreasing your FS9 resolution would be dis-appointing. I'm quite sure you'll be having "Jaggie" issues. Try this...Take a "paused" pic at your normal resolution, then decrease your rez to 800 x 600 and take the pic again. Resize the higher rez pic to 800 x 600 and compare the results. Let us know what you get will you? I suggest we do a analysis of your other FS9 and vid card settings to try to correct the issue. Why don't you post your settings and computer specs here and we'll try to help you tweek to perfection. :)
Here's a couple of examples of 1280 x 1024 re-sized to 800 x 600 with Irfanview..taken with Nvidea FX 5200 256k, P4 2.8, nothing spectacular as far as equipment, tweeked to the max though..including an FS9 configuration modification I'll send to you if you like. It really helps with scenery focus, particulary at greater distances.

in theory no, If you take 1024x768 and re-size to 800x600 you are pushing more pixles into a smaller space and you should have a sharper pic. I'm not to shure on how it works but thats the basics.

I agree with BAW. I take shots @1280x1024 and then resize to 800x640. Usually this results in a very sharp image. But you need a good image to start with (e.g. good graphics card to start with, Anti Aliasing and Anisotropic Filering turned up to the max, etc.)
My rule of thumb is that you can hardly ever turn crap into gems, without going into Photoshop ...

Im sorry if its been said above, Im still on vacation and I dont feel like reading all the replies lol
Using a low resolution LOWERS your quality. While being at 800X600 would give you a 'pure' image, it doesnt allow for quality shots. The higher resolution has more pixels, and more pixels makes a shot smoother. The quality difference between a 'pure' 800X600 and a resized larger resolution is not significant at all, in fact the resized larger image will most likely be BETTER than the 'pure' smaller image

Yes, the scenery is Courchevel from the fabulous add-on "France Altiports" that my good pal Cspyro introduced me too :) I'll send you the scenery via PM shortly and the FS9 cfg. mod..I'll post that at the Studio in it's own thread in a short while.

Don't forget that in Irfanview there is the option to "SHARPEN" the image...
I often use it in my pics to make them "sharper" and clearer......
....but don't overdo it...

Thanks for the replies.
Oh, and Clipper, If you remeber i have FS8 so a FS9 .cfg wouldn't do me to good.
