Rip It!!!!

Postby lilley91 » Fri Jul 21, 2006 12:12 pm

just one of my shots that i made in a session for the screen shot contest, im still thinking and taking screens, so i thought that it might be a good idea to use this fantastic facility here to see what people would do with this

this is a POSKY 747-400F in china airlines cargo scheme.

Image

the intention of the screenshot was to give the "speeeed" feeling and it is supposed to be from a spotters point of view, as the 747 roars overhead having just rotated off of Heathrow's r/w 9R/27L

all critiscism and possibly praise? ;) :P

ALL comments welcome
hope you liked it

cheers
james

Well the first thing that really turns me off the the [glb]RED[/glb] Aircraft label. Any shot I see with the labels will instantly take the "realism of the photo" right away.

Second, The ZOOM OUT is WAY TOO FAR!
It looks strange. The perspective is all off.

Just my 2 cents!  ;)

It's a nice shot, I can only think of three things, besides that red text.. :P

1. Fisheye is overdone.

2. One does get the sensation of speed, but only from the (overdone) fisheye and the raindrops. You should've included some ground that way people would know it was a takeoff, which equals power/speed.

3. Cropping - always* crop.

*Unless it's for the competetion like this shot, but hey, you told us to rip it. ;D ;)

1) The red aircraft label
2) Fisheye/ Zoom makes the pic look weird
3) For some reason, the paint looks wrong. I think it might be the rain, but it makes it look streaked.

One positive thing about the pic, if you try to re-do it in a similar way, is the upward angle of the aircraft and the position of the "camera" really show some speed. Just try to bring the plane in a bit and make the proportions of it more realistic looking. Your basics are excellent, just needs a bit more realism. Try as well to change the time of day to make the sky color more dramatic. Not necessarily a dark sky, but deeper blue should appear as you approach the days extremeties (dawn and dusk). Take a look at Perfectsky. It's a freeware add-on that I feel creates amazing sky colors. Good luck!

I agree with all... the picture definately needs some more 'juice' from deeper colours and is a bit overstretched...it does look as if it's just zooming overhead though, you captured a nice effect there.

slightly closer cam next time maybe, definately no red tags either... however the zoom kinda gives the idea that the camera is trying to catch up with the plane, but it is going to fast to do this

Cool idea, yeh like everyone else said loose the fish eye effect either by using the Recorder Module as camera, are F1 view...

I think you should also use a different set of cumulus textures, they look aweful! The are some really nice ones in the FS Sky World package your using, just have a play round!

LOL sorry to rip ;)
