Rip This Pic: Not my usual style

Postby Souichiro » Tue May 01, 2007 4:53 pm

Hey all! My Video card decided to quit on me last week....so running FS is out of the question.. The good thing is that I will get a newer and better replacement card! :D All in due time!

Anyway. Roger asked me and others if we we're still interested in contributing to the Studio... This is my answer to him and to you all. I hope to see many others like it.

This pic isn't one I'd usually post. Not my style really... But what do you think of it? did the cutting off of one of the 747 distinctive features work out properly? Do you like the shot or not? etc etc etc  rip her up!

Well, might as well be honest-

In this pic there are some interesting things I don't like (everyone has their styles). Honestly, I've seen much better from you Soui. This pic lacs contrast. Everything is the same color and that is a dreery one to add more. I think that it should contrast a little more even if you're trying to paint a dreary picture. And about the cutting, I like the idea but maybe take off the wing root. It gives the viewer somewhere to go and then leaves them hanging as well as making the plane look too elongated IMHO. Also on a side note the grass looks real funky.

Just my opinions ;)

I like the ground scenery. The angle seems a little odd. I have also tried that angle on a 747, but I think it looks weird. Just my opinion.

Personally I'd say no.  The cutting isn't bad, but I think if you're cutting that much it should be from a bit more head on.  The grass looks really weird too :-?.  Not meaning to be negative, but I've seen much better from you ;).  I think this one just doesn't quite work...

Guys

IMHO a rip this pic thread is not ment to be for just nice comments. It's a thread where you can say all you want about the pic in question. I've said that these kind off pics aren't my style... didn't like it especially either :D The only thing I like is the paintjob and the lighting alongside the fusuelage :D

So.. No offence taken!

More comments/opinions please!

Soui, I don't think the cutting off of the 747 quite worked here. Everything else (scenery, weather, lighting etc) is perfect, but it's the angle that lets you down. It just feels...halfway there.

Hope this helps :)

If I'm going to be brutally honest I have to say I quite like it  :D

The wing root seems to be a bit of a 'weak area' in an otherwise excellent model - it's too prominent here... the grass looks 'funny' perhaps due to the light-winter texture (right?) combined with rain... no other aircraft visible at this large airport either, though there's plenty of other detail...which nonetheless looks very FSsy and not as real as the great skin on that plane... However, I like the 'colour harmony' and the power!

the plane sticks of the scenery to obviosuly, its something hard to get right to get the scenery and aircraft to blend as if natural but play around with brightness/contrast and layers and you will get their in the end. the angle looks alright to me, not perfect but still pretty good considering its not your usual style. keep going and you will nail it ;D

I like the shot, but one thing that's really bothering me is the scenery. It just looks too artificial compared to the plane and the weather. Also, the building right beneath the cockpit looks like it's growing out of the plane!  ;D

I'm looking forward to seeing some of your 'new-vid-card-shots'!  8-)
