Gallery Attempt

Postby blckhwk1 » Sat Oct 07, 2006 1:10 am

Here is my gallery attempt, or one of them rather. It's the good ol' Stinkbug, or Nighthawk as people more commenly know it. Tell me what you think.

lovely composition and colours, and I love the ground silhouette......but the lens flare made me go for the no option.

Keep trying!

No.  Its not a very good screenshot.  Lens Flare doesnt help at all, the mountains are too dark and the clouds are too cotton bally

I agree, turn off your "len flare" in FS9. It never really does much to enhance a pic. I also feel that when you take a shot with a bright sun directly behind, it has a tendancy to make pics look hollow or over contrasted. I would move the sun off to one side until you can really see the aircrafts textures. Try some shots using only cirrus clouds, and try them at dawn. Cumulus clouds are very difficult to make look realistic. I really like what you're trying to do here and I think with a bit of tweeking and experimenting, you'll get better and better.

I said no because of the above mentioned reasons... I think you had the right idea of putting a Nighthawk silhouetted againt a bright background to make it look stealthy but the execution was wrong.. First of all make sure the entire plane is set-off against the background the way it looks now it looks like youre missing a wing or something... also turn your lights off....

I suggest you try doing the same idea but Shoot from underneath against a slightly brighter sky or from the top or slightly above the front when set against a CLoud or maybe the moons reflection in the water..

Maybe still not Gallery material but I think better at least.

As for the Lens flare Idea I disagree with Clip to always turn it off. If you're aiming to set the situation as a warm tropical feeling with.. let's say a Floatplane near Hawaii... Then Lens flare definitely aint bad. You just have to know how to use it.. For these kinda pics.. lens flare is a no no
