I use photoshop elements 8.0, the free version, which does me for what screenshots I use.
You can resize, alter colours, etc

Didn't know there was a free version?

I use Photoshop Elements for post-processing my photos but it seems rather over-the-top for simple jobs like resizing images.
IrfanView does all I need in that respect. Been using it for many years. https://www.irfanview.com
(I recommend the 32-bit version.)

Guys as it's been some time since we began the image upload thing ......... is it ok?

Does the size, max size etc suit or is it a deal breaker for some?

The 250kb limit can be a bit tight sometimes, shots over water tend to be the worst offender when converted from the bmp to jpeg format. Shots with over detailed city's are also a bit of a problem, I generally have to resize the shot to comply with the 250kb limit.
I have more of a problem keeping within in the 250kb limit than the image size sometimes the image is only a few kb over the 250 limit and needs to be resized. most of the time I can stay within the 250kb limit, mostly shots over water cause me the most headaches.

I agree with Dave T on this one. Also the 1000 kb limit per topic can be a bit restrictive.

I have not uploaded any shots for a while but I agree with
the above. My scenery I pretty dense"Orbx"so it does take
a bit of work to keep within the limits.

This is just an example of 4 screenshots straight conversion to jpeg format.

In fsx all of the screenshots saved are 4mb bmp's, I don't know if P3d saves are the same size.

Initial size bmp 4mb, sizes after initial conversion to jpeg no alteration in size of the image.

depending on the amount of detail in the shot it can be slightly bigger, I have only had three screenshots that I could not get anywhere near the 250kb limit but it does take a bit of playing around with resizing the shot.

If someone could do a similar comparison to the above shots for X-plane and P3d to see if the screenshot size is comparable before resizing it, I generally have no problem keeping within the limits with Fs9.
