It may have a new paint job, but this old plane and pilot know how to get in and out of short fields.

Mears Field (3W5) in Concrete, WA doesn't "officially" permit aircraft this size, but who's paying attention to rules?

Passengers? I bet that they had a good time too.

Heck! We had plenty of room.

Thanks everybody.

This all started after reading how real war-time pilots sere able to get in & out of short very, very fields.

Getting a DC-3 up over the tree tops in Mears Field is actually pretty easy, at least in a sim.

After a bit of practice, landing the DC-3 in Mears Field gets pretty easy too. The WWII pilots could do it in about half the distance.
