With the excellent freeware Mirage III from the Restauravia team, highly recommended. The aircraft has a very nice model and virtual cockpit, very good sounds, and the flight model is quite challenging on landings.
Concerning the clouds, it shows how important a good drawing distance is. Mine is set to 90 miles if I remember correctly... This can impact performance of the simulator, unless you choose some low resolution clouds
Mine are only 512x512. This makes a big difference in the performance, with little to no quality loss.
Another important thing, to avoid FPS loss in heavy weather, is to ensure your "transparency antialiasing" is disabled.
