I've been looking for this for a few years. After giving up on it, I finally found it.

When I read a book that has an airplane in it, I like to fly the plane. This one is in the Brotherhood of War series. (With US Army markings though)

lovely shots and the Navions a great plane to fly with a very nice VC.

Where do I find this pretty bird?

Until now I couldn't find one for FSX/P3d. I've read about the Navion over the years, though.

I particularly liked this quote from - North American's Navion: Sonuva Mustang

"Navions are well-liked because they are roomy, embarrassingly easy to land and are like the proverbial masonry latrine."



I doubt that it was my amazingly sophisticated flying, but I do find it easy to fly and land, so maybe the flight dynamics were well done.

Somewhere, I remember reading that it was hoped that the aircraft would be bought like cars by many of the ex-WWII & Korean War pilots.

Notice the opening handle on top?



My only disappointment is that there is no Korean War US Army paint scheme.

Interestingly (just a hint to repainters ), the real life paint schemes for the Navion quite varied - Ryan Navion Google images.

Is it not Tim Conrad's model?

Thanks for the response, I've had bad luck with Sim Outhouse in the past, I think I'll just download the one we have here.

Yes, Sim Outhouse was my initial source, but Simviation does have a Navion Rangemaster v2.

There are also a number of repaints to go along with it. Who knew?

That's what happens when you give up looking for a few years, everyone starts making one. OZx even has some repaints for the one that I downloaded.


AND I found a repaint of a 1948-49 US Army L-17A (Navion) that's still flying in California. BTW - I really like the new glass "sheen" in P3d.

It's a pretty nice "personal" plane. By that I mean that I could never see myself flying a jumbo jet with a couple hundred passengers, but this one looks very comfortable and straight forward to fly.

As to the FSX model it handles very well. The first time that I landed it I aced it. Smooth as could be, not my normal proposing.

This isn't my favorite aircraft, but it's kind of like a buss driver relaxing as he drives his car on vacation.

You can feel comfortable flying in it.
