Land where???

Postby OldAirmail » Fri Dec 18, 2015 11:38 pm

They say that Washington State is a rainy place.

Welllll.....

Only if you're using real time weather. :D

I took off from my home away from home, 3W5, in a pouring rain.

Not a problem. I'll just see what it looks like from high up.

Mistake.

BIG mistake.

If you're going to fly up into the clouds, make sure that you do so in a plane with all the modern instruments!

But obviously I lived to tell the tail. :shifty:

Once I got up high enough I started to wonder why there were so many islands with trees up here in the clouds. :o

SOMEWHERE down there is an airport. I think. ???
Image

There's only one solution. I have to go down and find it.
Image

I hope this isn't another mistake!
Image

Maybe just a little too low. :D
Image

Much better, it's starting to break up.
Image

Leaving the lake behind, I see a valley.
Image

BEAUTIFUL!

I think that I'll just sit here for a moment. :D

Now you know why cautious-old-me always stays well away from the fluffy-stuff in my little piston props!.... ;) ....!

On a fluffy-cloud day, its always safer to stay in the FBO with a hot mug of coffee and a bacon sandwich...
...and wait 'till all the fluffy stuff has gone away...

...and live another day to tell the TALE.... ...!

Paul....Shopping, in a thick, overcast, miserable, rainy day, on my Motorbike, at zero feet AGL.... ....!

P.S.....lovely shots...when out of the clouds!.... ...!

Thanks, all.

That was a real surprise when I topped the clouds only to see the mountains poking through.

I've seen it enough in real pictures, but this is a first in a flight sim.

Nothing brings more variety to the sim than real time weather. You couldn't pay me enough to give it up.

Really nice shots, P3d looks good and is that ORBX scenery.

Thanks, Rich.

That was outside of the Concrete, WA area, so it'd be within the Orbx Pacific Northwest.

If you want just ONE great looking area, I'd say get this one.

I just bought the Pacific Fjords scenery and I have to say that the Pacific Northwest scenery is the better of the two.

They both cost the same, but the Pacific Northwest covers a larger area, and has more free & paid airports in it.

Thanks for the reply, I have 2 areas Pacific Northwest and Pacific Fjords with Friday Harbour from Steam, hopefully more on the way next year but first there's a couple of aircraft I want. Great fun to fly around.

Save a little money for the Orbx Southern California scenery - NA SCA around San Diego.

I'm betting that it'll be great scenery!

Great shots there OAM! You were really stretching the definition of VFR ( ie "maintain visual contact with ground at all times." ) Ha-Ha!!! But I wonder if "Islands in the Sky" wouldn't count? The regs don't say how much ground you must have a visual on.

An Aircraft Mechanic only needs two tools, Duct Tape and WD40.
If it moves and it's not supposed to - use the Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and it's supposed to - use the WD40.

"VFR" comes top of my list for sensible things to do in my Sim Flights!!

...the same goes for my Motorbike rides if its foggy outside!... ;) ...!
