As a captain. I will NEVER and NEVER fly through a thunderstorm, nor near enough to one to put , miss EU-SE and my crews in jeopardy.
I will fly over one, or divert around one, and will absolutely divert to another airport if there is one within 10 miles of my intended landing.
All I ever wanted to fly in good weather, I'm not looking for trouble.
Thunderstorms contain too many hazards. Updrafts and Downdrafts, Microbursts Lightning Hail (the kind of ice that smashes things)
Ice (the kind that sticks to the wings.) Very heavy rain High winds Tornadoes
But captain like you say. ( It's all in the mind. )
Well, if that's the case then. Buckle up your seat belts the crew. We are flying over a thunderstorm. "El Niño ". Mr Bob, ...........
