Hello Chums!

Just a very quick.... ;) ...screen shot of my little Cessna 150 Aerobat taking a leisurely trip up the Sonoma Valley, following Highway 12 from Sonoma Skypark (0Q9) to Greywood Ranch (CA39) and on to Santa Rosa Airfield (KSTS), travelling through the many California Vineyards en-route!
...and pick up a few bottles of California's finest for Din's, at the same time!.... ...!

The harvest was early this year, and light. Because of the drought. But I am told that the grapes, though small, were very good. I'll enjoy a glass of merlot for you.

Hello Hobo..... :D ...!

Ta for the Merlot!

The California drought, and the hot sunshine, also resulted in an early crop, and the wine becoming exceptionally alcoholic (lots of natural sugar)!

...which is nice!.... ...!

I often take a flight to the California Wine Section in my local Sainsbury's Supermarket.... ;) ....!

Paul....a glass on the go at this very moment!... ....(Don't tell the FAA!).... :? ...!

Ta, Shadow!.... ;) ....!

Alaska!.... ....!

Far too bloody cold for me!

Anywhere further north of Sunny California, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico is far too chilly and uncomfortable for my old bones!

I've got used to dipping my toes in the warm Pacific Ocean at Santa Monica for the past 15+ Flight Sim years!.... ....!

The up-coming nasty English Winter reminds me of Alaska!... ...!

Hello Fozzer, I have flown the real-life C-150 Aerobat and I enjoyed it. I think it was a bit heavier than the standard C-150 but it handled about the same. It was strengthened in critical areas which was a good thing as the tail/empennage was a bit flimsy in the C-150 for higher-g maneuvers.
The Aerobat had a G-Meter in it. I learned from that G-meter that when a Pilot tells you how many g's he thinks he pulled in a maneuver in a non G-metered airplane he is probably over-stating the G's by quite a bit. For example, 2.5 G's feels like 4 G's etc. It was a good learning experience to feel a G-force and then be able to see what G's actually were. On other airplanes I could guess the G's much more accurately. The G-meter also had a second needle that stayed at the "maximum" G's that you pulled during the flight so after you landed you knew if you should have the airplane inspected. If you made a Snap-Roll at too high a speed and bent the tail sideways the meter would tell you how badly you did!

So , enjoy your wine-country flights in the Aerobat and don't forget to snap-roll it once in a while!

Hello Flacke!

Many thanks for the useful info on the Cessna 150 Aerobat!
I had a few 1-hour trial flights on the local club's Cessna 152 Trainer a few years ago, and I've been hooked on them ever since, in all my Flight Sims!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_150

I particularly like the 150 with its "Rolls-Royce Continental" engine, (with the "RR" badge on the engine cowl!), rather than the "Avco Lycoming" engine.
Apparently the Continental engine is assembled with much closer tolerances...and their Pilots love them!

My Aerobat's Panel is kitted out with all sorts of very useful extra goodies not usually fitted on the standard '150!...>>>

Full Bendix-King Radio Stack, with full AP.
OAT.
Radio Altimeter.
Angle of Attack Meter.
Manifold pressure.
EGT and CHT gauges.
Carb heat knob + Warning light!
Cowl Flaps.
..plus lots more goodies...(and a Coffee cup holder)...!

Nice shots, nice plane.......I don't buy Californian wine though. I make my own, as cheap as chips and as strong as I want it. I aim for about 15%.

Nice paint job there Paul. I should imagine the extra spar thickness and the paint should make it about the same weight as a 172. Good job you have a turbo. <<q

Hi Fozzer, I had no idea that your C-150 was so modified! THAT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PANEL that I have ever seen on a 150, superb.
I also wondered how you could tolerate the slow cruise speeds during your travels. Now I know that you get the ultra-fast cruise from your super-modified engine/airplane.
Glad to see that you get so much enjoyment from your airplane.

..... :D ....!

The venerable Cessna 150 and 152 Trainers!

The perfect aircraft for budding Pilots to learn the ins and outs of "real" Aircraft management, Radio communication, Air Traffic Control, and flight in general...

..and the reason why I have always recommended them to budding "Flight Sim" Pilots to learn the art!

Alternatively, the default Cessna 172!.... :D ...!

Lots of fun (and learning) to be had in practising take-offs and landings on a small air strip, for new Sim Pilots!

The best way to start off the enjoyment of Flight Simulation!

....forget all about the Jumbo Jets for a while!.... ...!

...and Military Dog-fights are the domain of Combat Flight Simulator 2!... ;) ...!

Paul...Have Fun in a '152!.... ...!

Actually, Yan.... ;) ....

One of the many reasons why I particularly like the Cessna 150's and Cessna 152's is because they are, for the average Pilot; "affordable", rugged, all-metal, well-proven, safe, easily-maintained, 2-seater aircraft, with a second-hand price equalling a basic Flexwing Microlight!

Ideal for someone with limited financial means!... :D ...!

Altogether, a practical little aircraft for those who like to fly!

Admirably suitable for all my sunny week-end excursions around the gorgeous Microsoft/California scenery!... ...!

Paul....Low and slow....with a smile!.... ...!
