That time of year again where the west is a blaze. We got a 50,000+ acre fire just North of me and a ~40,000acre fire East of me, and maybe a dozen little ones every where else in Central Oregon....we got blue skies today for the first time in a week!

One of these very helicopters is slinging water in support of hundreds of firefighters and now 1,000 National Guard soldiers in battling the fires here. This helo's name-sake stable mate, the DC-7s and MD-87s of Erickson Aero Tanker are working HARD all over.

Firebomber & helitack crews are a wonderful group of people...the SEAT (single engine air tanker) guys were working around the clock for over a week several weeks ago working in tough terrain.

So cool the firebomber guys are working with simmers to bring air tankers and heli tankers into the virtual world!

What package is this may I ask?

I'm a wildland firefighter here in Washington State....we have got our hands full right now.
I had an two Blackhawks from the National Guard, an Aircrane and a Bell 212 over me all day going back and forth from
the fire to the river....quite the airshow! I read that we are getting some more boots on the
ground in the form of Australians and New Zealanders.....quite the trip for them!

Anyway......it's the Nemeth/Milviz Aircrane ;)

Good on ya Chuck!

I have no idea how you guys can do that job..hiking around in high-heat with all that gear...yeah I wouldn't last half a day!
I got that soft engineering build ya know...to much computer usage

Seriously though, you guys do phenomenal work. My dad did a few years in an urban fire dept. He has no idea how you guys can work in that rough terrain when its 90 degrees all day either.

My hat is off to you sir.
