For the Emperor!

Postby Arkanoid » Wed Jan 07, 2015 3:49 pm

The Nakajima Kikka was Japan's first jet-powered aircraft. It was developed late in World War II and the first prototype had only flown once before the end of the conflict. This plane has a strong but superficial resemblance to the german Me 262. Compared to the Me 262, the Kikka airframe was noticeably smaller and more conventional in design, with straight (rather than swept) wings and tail surfaces. The triangular fuselage cross section characteristic of the German design was less pronounced, due to smaller fuel tanks. The main landing gear of the Kikka were taken from the A6M Zero and the nose wheel from the tail of a Yokosuka P1Y bomber. WIKIPEDIA

My plane is doing a training flight around the iconic Mt Fuji.

Paul, I hate to tell ya this, but, being a huge Frank Herbert fan, and having read all the dune books, from prequels set a thousand years before, to sequels a few thousand after, not to mention the original 3 Dune novels, That movie was the worst treatment of a book I think I've ever seen on the "big" screen. The second movie that came out later was better, but still not great. Just read the original Dune novel, you'll see what I mean. Frank must have been spinning in his grave when the first movie hit the airwaves...
I'm sorry for the critique, but I am a horrendously big sci-fi fan, and get offended when the movie makers pretty much just use the book's name, and there the resemblance ends. They don't even try sometimes.
Ok, ok...[/rant]

Sorry to all, carry on!
Pat☺
Have fun, fly high, far, and free!

Steady on Pat!... :o ...

Time for your afternoon lie-down?... ... ... ...!

I must admit, I quite enjoy/enjoyed the Dino De Laurentiis version of the film, (mainly for its unusual architecture), not having read any of the books....
...but the computer game; "Dune 2000" is one of the favourites out of my zillions of computer games filling my house!
(I don't only fly computer aeroplanes, you know!).... ;) ... ...!
Its rarely that a film matches the book, when it come to public entertainment...similar to "Blade Runner"?
I've been sat in this bloody chair, every day, since 1975, playing computer games on various Computers and Games Machines, and I'm still doing so as I speak; "Hardwar" and "Quake", "Doom", etc, etc....until my brain hurts!...
...still a young Lad at heart!... ...!

Never mind, Pat..a good-old blast at the Aliens invading the Planet Zorg, clears out all the cobwebs....trust me!.... ...!

Sorry Ark....I've burst into your thread with my computer games enthusiasm.... ....

...but I really love your wonderful screen shots, to make up for it!....Well done!.... ...!
