New Download for me...

Postby Flying Trucker » Sun Dec 28, 2014 4:41 pm

Good afternoon all... ;)

Had a few moments to try out this PA28 Warrior I downloaded.

Not sure why the Carburetor Heat seems to kill the engine when applied...will have to read the download instructions again...

FSX and Windows 7
Flight Simulator Water Configurator set to "Steve's Favourite Setting"
.....Large unfrozen lakes look good at that setting
Season is Winter and Time is Dawn
Aircraft is the PA28 Warrior from the Simviation Downloads found on the Home Page of Simviation
The flight location is north west of Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Snowy Dawn Climb Out with a Turn to Course...

Lake is still unfrozen...

Sure makes a fellow feel small looking out there...
Image

Have flown out of the snow shower into sunny sky...
Image

Should have Wheel/Skis...look at all those small frozen lakes and ponds just waiting to be landed on...
Old Girl says I can't buy another thing for flying until I buy her a New Kitchen Apron...
Those Kitchen Aprons cost more than Twenty (20) Dollars Canadian...
Wonder if she will settle for a pair of my coveralls from the hangar :?:

Comments and Advice most welcome... ;)
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

WAIT! Don't forget to tell her that if she kills you, she can't collect the life insurance!

:o   Thanks for the comments fellas...much appreciated... ;)

Have been reading with interest your Posts in the Payware Section about the new Precipitation add-on (rain/snow) Old Airmail.

It is available here in Canada for $15:00 which seems reasonable.

I only use Microsoft FSX with Acceleration and am hoping to have a new Motion Computer System built which is why I am holding off purchasing anything new.

Also not sure about replacing Windows 7.

As you can see by my first couple of pictures the effects of snow do not show well in FSX, either does rain.

I can not remember if snow or rain show well in FSX while the aircraft is stationary on the ground or not but in the air the rain and snow effects are not realistic, at least not to me.

Have seen some add-on scenery where the snow/rain effects look good, however one needs to have that Payware scenery. I usually do a short cross country of several hours between two airports and plug in as many NDBs/VORs as I can find within reason.

I do like the way the way Flight 1 programs show small frozen bodies of water while the larger lakes are left unfrozen. Snow effects show well also when operating off skis or wheel/skis during landing and takeoff making the cross country flight a little more realistic.

Well need to get back to the cross country simulated flight while I have some time on my hands... ;)
