Wish all to hell we had snow down here today,Christmas day.

Not the usual as it is only about 30 degrees C. Have all the curtains closed
and about to get ready to prepare my Christmas dinner.

First ever Xmas alone.

Menu. Homemade veggie loaf,basted with extra virgin olive oil
and rosemary and then mushrooms,garlic,baby aspargus,homemade
stuffing,onions,steamed broccoli,on a bed steamed kale.
OH and a couple of red wines.

This is my first Christmas alone. IT Sucks!

Hey there Anthin! Glad to have you with us. I am a loner meself but I do know how you feel. Stay away from sharp objects and open another bottle of forget. My father is 89 years old and is making plans to head to down under. It seems warmer weather is easier on the bones. It is 30 degrees F here with light winds. I have worked every thanksgiving and christmas for forty years at the local newspaper (printer's devil) and if being alone is misery I have adapted.

Being alone....

When I come to think back, it seems that I have spent most of my life on my own!
Both of my previous Wives spent most of their time going out to pubs, etc, and getting up to all sorts of mischief, as they do, so I spent a lot of my early life looking after my four children!
Since my latest wife went off to do other things, as they do, I have spent the past 40+ years on my own and thoroughly enjoying myself surrounded by all my toys and play-things filling up my big house, which I have collected over many years to keep me occupied during my retirement.....been retired for the past 30 years (1984)!

So I really enjoy my own company, doing everything that I want to do, when and if I feel like doing it!!

My daily life is full of peace and tranquillity and enjoyment!..... ...!

So, there you go Lads, it can be easy to learn to live happily on ones own...and needs very little practice!

There is nothing a Female can do that I cant do myself...with no stress involved!!

I've already got my zillions of Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren...so Females are redundant now!... ...!

There's hope for you yet Anthin...take my tip, and enjoy, and make the most of what you've got!
..NEVER get depressed and dwell on things!

Thanks Fozzer. I guess it was because it was my first Xmas alone that made me upset.
I am ok now and back to normal.

Been watching this post since Anthin first said something about being alone for Christmas. I felt really bad for Him and I suppose Myself. I realized that this may be the last Christmas I have with My Wife. Her breast cancer is back after 16 years. It has reappeared I Her bones, mainly spine and pelvis. She is inconstant pain. I put three pain patches up and down Her spine everyday and She has to take three morphine tablets and twelve percosets everyday to combat the pain. I don't know how She manages to stay awake. I have taken over all homemaker duties from vacuuming, laundry, grocery shopping, cooking, etc. Anybody thinks Women don't have a ruff job keeping up a house should try it sometime. They are telling Us now that the cancer may have progressed into Her brain. If this is true They said We are looking at a survival period of months. I know it is a bother to Her, but I am always getting Her to look at someone's screenshot or something that turned out really well on My flightsim (FSX Accel), but She is and has been My Buddy. Who else will I tell. Sometimes I sit in front of the computer late at night when everything is done for the day and She is finally getting some rest in bed, and I realize that I am up alone by Myself and the silence is deafening. I hope someday I will be able to accept being alone after all these years. Sorry about going on, but I needed to get that off My chest guys. Needed to talk to someone! Merry Christmas All and Happy and safe New Year.

Captain walter,I am so sorry. This must be an horrific time for you both.
I have
some idea of what you are going through. My wife died of motor
Neurone disease. In Canada it is known as ALS or Lou Gerhrigs
disease. It was horrible. I understand to a certain extant what you
must be going through.

My feeling lonely over Xmas was pretty petty,compared to what you both
are going through.

I must say your post was a huge shock. I am glad you have come out
and told us about it. It may not help a lot but there are many caring folk
amongst the flight sim community. Keep us posted and do not be afraid
to as for moral help.

Give my Love to your Wife and try to stay strong. I have never met you
but Your post makes me feel that you have been a
distant friend I have to meet.

Anthin - - Thank you so much for that return post. It is funny how You can feel so close to someone who lives far away and you have never even met them. I had that same feeling about wanting to meet you someday the other night. I guess it just goes to show that we are all in this together and not that different from one another. I'm also sure that going through that ALS with your wife was no picnic either. Keep a stiff upper lip Buddy. I guess it's one day at a time now for us and everyone else in these situations. God bless, stay safe, and I imagine She is looking down on us wondering why We enjoy our make believe world of being pilots who can fly any aircraft ever made so much.
