Well, that post was just to say "here's a pretty good aircraft".

If I could find a US Marines version I'd be happier.

W.E.B. Griffin writes a great set of WWII stories, one series of which starts off with the main character flying a Marine F4F off Guadalcanal.

So, just for you, here's a dawn shot over a jungle island.

W.E>B> Griffon has a phenominal grasp of the Marines and Military life in general, whether WWII, Korea, Vietnam, whatever. Both the lowest enlisted to the highest officer ranks.
He seems to have the same grasp of the Police forces, too, again all eras and ranks. He's a fantastic writer, IMO, although his books tend to be a tad thick...

Great pix, OAM, thanx for the post. Personally, I would prefer a Marine paint job too, oddly enough :D

What I like about Griffin is that you can actually like, and care about, the characters. The books are thick, but full of action so it balances out.

Over the years, I've read them all.

To help pass the time on my way into work (or long walks) I use a Sansa Clip+ to listen to audiobooks, including Griffin. They're free from your library along with thousands of other titles.
