Just a couple of quick pictures before I head off to sleep.

Standard FSX/Prepar3d Hawaiian scenery was NEVER like this.

Nicely done...I had to take several looks/glances at the first shot.

The aircraft livery, the angle of the shot and the position I was sitting in front of this electronic gizmo through me off on the aircraft type...

I like the first shot and again nicely done... ;)

Quite right there. :(

I've switch to the Cessna 310Q from Rob's Aero Files for a faster GA prop aircraft to do scenery exploration.

But unfortunately, it's the best freeware available.

I've checked for payware 310s, but can't decide if the payware quality is as good as some of the other payware aircraft that I've seen. :?

For a really good C310, freeware, check out the Milviz Cessna 310R. Looks and flys like the real thing. Great shots, by the way whose scenery is it?

Regards,
Jim

I've checked out their C310R before. It does seem better than the 310Q that I have, but I've seen better looking payware aircraft from other companies, just not a better C310. :(

As to there being a freeware version of MilVizs' C310R, I haven't seen that other than on pirate sites. But I've been wrong in the past, and I'll be wrong again.

(PS - Don't say that to my wife. She thinks that I'm perfect. :liar: )

FSPilotshop does have it on sale at the moment. I'll probaply put some money into my debit account and buy it today.

As to "...whose scenery is it?", I'll get to it in a bit. I'm still downloading the rest of the islands.

I've just realized how ignorant I am about the Hawaiian Islands. :o

Most of what I know comes from TV & the movies. (And some VERY good coffee)

Believe it or not, I'm wrong. (Except for the coffee part :D )

This is Molokai Island.

This shot is from 1,000 feet above the ground.

My first impressions of the Hawaiian scenery, was that the colors were very unrealistic. ESPECIALLY the red ground.

So I went to the Google satellite imagery, and boy was I surprised! Maybe all of Hawaii isn't like TV! :o

This is the Google image of the same location.

Well, I've been flying a couple of freeware Cessna 310s' when Kurt says "Boy, you better get some better wings than that, 'r I'm gona be ashamed of knowing ya."

So I sold one of my dogs and went shopping.

I met a smooth talker over at FSPilotshop who told me that he had a sweet deal coming in for a landing Real Soon Now.

Unfortunately, he said, there were several smart buyers who wanted it as soon as it landed.

But he liked me, and offered to let me buy it before it even landed! What a sweet deal indeed!

So now I own a Cessna 310R. Kinda dirty though. :(

Not as clean as it should be

So the question asked before by jphespe was "...by the way whose scenery is it?".

When I first installed FSX there were a number of places that I wanted to see in the simulator. Hawaii was top on the list.

After seeing how it looked in the sim I NEVER went back there again.

That is until Orbx FTX: Global.

And after seeing how it looked in FTX: Global, I still wasn't interested.

The scenery that I found isn't perfect but it's far, far better than basic FSX/Prepared.

The place to start is with E-Mesh: Hawaii 10m mesh or 5M HD Mesh for the Island of Hawaii.

Interestingly, I'm not all too sure that the 5m mesh is the better of the two.

Supposedly FSX/P3d will use the higher of any two meshes. But surprisingly there seems to be little difference.

And an even bigger surprise was the impression that the onscreen mesh might look better using BOTH!

The scenery? From here.

It's still a work in progress, and it's free, so I'm not about to complain. :D
