A common mistake a lot of Simviation Aviators make when landing on Glassy Water is they tend to land in the middle of the lake or body of water.

Glassy water is difficult to land on as it is hard to tell just how high one is above the water when out in the middle of the lake.

It does not take much to damage a float or aircraft during a hard landing.

What we do when aviating a real aircraft and landing on Glassy Water can easily be simulated:
-do a slow precautionary approach over the water looking for debris and dead heads in or on the water...rocks especially...look for reference points on the shore
-watch for small fishing boats, 12 & 14 footers hiding in the coast line shadows...one should be able to pick these out on the precautionary approach
-on the landing stay as close to shore as you safely can when landing on Glassy Water...
-use the shoreline, trees, buildings etc. as reference points to judge your descent onto the water...
-use a shallow approach...no need to come down at 500fpm...

Glassy Water Landings and Takeoffs can be a lot of fun and safely done in real aviation...simulating them on a computer is where one wants to make their mistakes...

Love the VC approach shot, some flaps may have been handy and mixture should be set to full rich for takeoff/landing at that elevation

One great thing about these sims is that you can fly it right, wrong, or somewhere in between. Errors don't hurt or kill you.

That Hungry Horse Reservoir was my first scenery from Blue Sky Scenery that wasn't desert.

The desert scenery is great, but this was the first of their "green" type scenery that I've downloaded.

I just flew around, captured a few shots, and went to bed. I'll have to spend more time with it tonight.


One thing that I did notice was that the sense of moving through a 3D world was MUCH greater with this scenery.
