The weather in Greenland is unpredictable and can be hard to fly and not to mention, to see anything

I found the airfield and going in for a hard landing

No wonder they have some heavy markings on runways

Hi Kurt... :o

Nicely done on the set... <<s

Not a real good idea to do Hard Landings in aeroplanes, I think what you are doing is a STOL Approach which does not have to end up as a Hard Landing if done correctly.

STOL Approaches and Landings are the specialty of many DeHavilland of Canada built aircraft like the Beaver, Otter, Caribou, Buffalo, etc. operating off wheels, wheel /skis, skis, floats and amphibious floats and an experienced aviator should be able to touch down softly and stop within the limitations of the aircraft specified for a STOL Approach, Landing and Takeoff.

I remember a lake we landed at the approach was down the side of a high treed hill, not many aircraft could make it into that lake or get out off that lake but we did STOL approaches, landings and takeoffs with the single engine radial DHC-3 Otter daily without mishap.

From 2500ft. the nose was pointed down towards the treed shoreline, one had time to make a ham and cheese sandwich with mustard before it was time for the adjustment to the landing...the takeoff was even more thrilling... :angelic-flying:

Again well done on the set Kurt and keep practicing those landings...

Thanks guys :D

@Doug. You might be right on the STOL landing, but i knew when i first saw the airfield that i would only get half a runway to land on, and with my diving speed, it could be a hard one!!
Thanks again for giving us some of your experience

@papi. Thanks for the link. Very interesting.

@ Chuck. I'm very good at dive bombing, esp in CFS2
