Nothing really benefits or justifies an SLI or Crossfire set up when a single monitor is used, I agree with that. Possible here is higher Sceen resolution 2048 x 1536 and/or higher, and going Ultra High Definition monitor (not a 4K monitor), then a SLI or Crossfire would benefit a person when it comes to fps I would imagine with FSX, or with any game for that matter.
One good high end card and an i7 (although the i7 990X 3.46 GHz w/ max Turbo 3.73GHz doesn't seem all that shabby) will go along way for sure, with just about anything you would game on a single monitor. Again you have some really nice looking pic's you shared, thanks. I noticed your motherboard doesn't support SLI nVidia, just Crossfire ATI.
Myself I'm always thinking of the future of gaming, where it is at now, and where will we all be in 5 years from now. SSD's to me were just the tip of the iceberg to start transfering data at miraculous speeds (and no moving parts to wear out, just HDD fans to keep them cool). Prices have come way down from what I've seen. Someday maybe we'll have computers where Latency will be no problem.
Thanks for sharing your specs. really appreciated, and your pic's gave me a benchmark to look at
