Good afternoon all... <<q

Had a little time to get in a simulated flight.

I was thinking of last week when one of our grandchildren had me up in the Cessna 172 and the fog rolled in off the lake as we started home from our short cross country flight.

Well, that gave me time to share with her a few short stories and a couple of tall tales about my flying experience and fog...

When I was not much older than her, going into my last year of High School and a proud holder of a brand new Commercial Pilots License with a Float Endorsement I had a summer job flying the new Cessna 180s along with some older Piper Aircraft on floats.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_180

We would start flying about 05:00 give or take a few minutes and by 06:30 the fog would roll in off Georgian Bay and cover everything for miles inland.

It happened quite quickly but the fog was gone for float flying activities to resume by 09:30 or so.

Most of us would grab a few hours of sleep as we flew long hours or until it was dark.

Here are the pictures of a short cross country flight I just completed.

No fishermen or boaters on the lake yet.

Aerodrome looks quiet.

Will circle the aerodrome before lining up for the water runway which I have already done a precautionary check on, need to check the windsock again.

Fog is starting to roll-in.

Sometimes we all wished there was just a little more horsepower up front...

Hi Bass, thanks also for your comments as they are always appreciated... <<q

This morning the old girl and I were having our percolated coffee (she grinds and mixes several different coffee beans) and sitting in our sun room/ solarium which overlooks the Bay of Quinte and the mouth of the Trent River which is the Gateway to the Trent System that many private sailboats and motorized yachts pass through on their World Tour.

They come from both ends of the Trent System and usually in groups of three or four. Sometimes they overnight here for several days before continuing on their journey.

We watched as the Fog rolled in off Lake Ontario, entering the Bay of Quinte and over the hills moving north up the Trent River.

Right now there is still Fog covering most of the hills and farther north up the river.

It sure doesn't take long for Mother Nature to do her thing... <<u
