DeHavilland DH60G Gipsy Moth

Postby Flying Trucker » Wed Apr 24, 2013 1:02 pm

Had a little time to fill in on this rainy day so just took the Gipsy Moth up for a Simulated Bash about the puffy wuffies.

DeHavilland designed and built some of the finest Biplane's that ever graced the skies and they made not only great Trainers but fine little Cross Country Tourer's also.

It seemed when growing up on the farm with our own strip and the many different types of aeroplanes my grandparents and parents owned, it always turned out which ever one I was privileged to fly turned into a Sopwith Camel, Royal Aircraft Factory SE5A, Bristol F.2 Fighter "Brisfit or Biff" and the most modern of all the Fairey Swordfish right after my takeoff.

When I started to purchase our own aircraft, like the Cessna 172, 180, 185 or the 337 I still had that same problem.

Wonder if there is something wrong with me?....

Hi Bass... <<s

The Old Girl has her own new computer, mine is several years old.

She used FS2004 quite a lot when it first came out but since we both let our Aviation Medicals Expire because of our age she has not been on the Microsoft Game FS2004 much if at all.

We still aviate with a Licensed Aviator once a week but that is about it.

I will say she does show an interest in my Simulated Flying on the Microsoft Game "FSX" and I find that great.

Keeps telling me to buy something with motion but I am waiting until one of our son's finishes his Motion Simulator based on two/four engine radial aircraft. Hopefully it will be complete this year.

Loved doing aerobatics in several different types and preferred to do it alone.... <<q

If I had to say what my favourite time and type of aircraft is for real aviating I would have to say flying alone in a DeHavilland Tiger Moth, DeHavilland of Canada DHC-1 "Chipmunk" or a Great Lakes Biplane during the early dawn or at sunset between one and two thousand feet.

I have always said it was like being in Second Heaven....
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
