Hi Stephane... :)

Trying to get REX Essentials Download but not successful yet.

However here are four shots.

FSX and Windows 7
REX2
FSWC...Flight Simulator Water Configurator
ORBX Scenery
Aero Files Texture Booster Pro
FSX Default Cessna 172
Frame Rate set at 30

Frame Rates are less than half of the setting...

Rain looked good on the Virtual Cockpit and Cockpit setting but terrible here.
Image

Just a little lightning...no drop in Frame Rate from previous shot...

REX2 Turned Off for the next two shots
Not much difference in the Frame Rates with REX2 OFF

Comments and advice most welcome... ;)

Hi Doug !

This is crazy... There is almost nothing in your screen, but your FPS crawl down to 13 anyways ??  :-? With the default C172 ?  :o
If it's not the clouds, then it has to be the water...
Please check your scenery settings Doug. What are they at the moment ?

Concerning the water, you wrote "2x", but which one ? 2x low, medium, high or max ?
Max shoud be avoided.
Also, keep the ground scenery shadow disabled.
Finally, 7cm for the ground textures is useless excepted on some OrbX airport. Keep that setting at 60 cm.

Okay...  I just have to mention, but, honestly, I'm not seeing much difference between having REX ona vs. having it off.

Excellent Shots! 8-) Why should max be avoided? Doesn't it put cloud reflections and waves? :-?

Indeed, REX sets the texture once for all. If REX is OFF, the clouds/sky/water textures are still there.

However, the REX weather engine works only if REX is ON, if I understood correctly.

So if you don't need to use the REX weather engine, you don't need to launch REX. Just launch FSX, your pretty textures will be there nevertheless :)
