EAP: Dawn flight

Postby RSorochak » Thu Mar 15, 2012 6:22 am

Among the former payware IRIS aircraft, now released as freeware on their site, is the British Aerospace EAP. The EAP was a test bed aircraft used to research technologies for a future European combat aircraft. It's no accident that the Eurofighter looks a lot like it.

Here's one in Tiger dress visiting Hill AFB, Utah. Dawn flight:

The 4th one !!  :o :o

Be carefull with the IRIS birds: their original HUD gauge is a frame-rate killer. Fortunately, you can replace it with HUDs from other freeware planes (or the default F-18).

Also, the F-14 and F-15 have an afterburner gauge that keeps the throttle blocked at 100% in FSX. You can deactivate it by editing the panel.cfg, fortunately. I don't know if these modifications (HUD+throttle gauges) is already done in the packages that are uploaded into Simv or not...

It's quite dynamic, isn't it?

It's a beauty. Everything in it is almost perfect, from the view angle to the colors and how the background looks. It's almost a picture. It's great  8-)

Thank you. There was one other which was similar but, of the two, I felt this was the more powerful.

Thanks. I've been spending what "flying" time I have lately in this aircraft (or one of it's varients). It's quite photogenic. :)

The one that had been cut, although having an interesting contrast, does not look as good as its equivalent in the original serie of shots.
But the last one is brilliant.  8-)

Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

From the manual.

We found that the large number of gauges applied to the VC was causing stress to the systems.(contrary to the Popular belief that the complexity of the gauge programming has little to no effect to the on the fps issue.
:-X

This was for FS9. This is not valid in FSX.
In fact, once the default HUD is gone, the FPS level of the IRIS birds becomes excellent.
