Talk about a living fossil! With the Air Force's announced intent to keep the Buffasaurus flying until 2040 or beyond, that'll make the youngest birds in the fleet almost 80 years old by retirement time. That's an airplane with a past AND a future.

Thanks. It's interesting to note that the Air Force is retiring B-1s and even B-2s (!!!) faster than the Buff. On top of that, the geezer has a better mission reliability rate than the newer machines. Modern technology ain't always what it's cracked up to be. To quote CDR Montgomery Scott: "The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain."
