;D

Tricky aint it!!! Looking at the real thing it seems to me theres none of this mamby pambying about and floating the thing onto the deck, just 'slam' it in with everything hanging out....

I do note however that they go to full throttle the instant they make a catch, i guess this is to ensure they can get back off the deck should they overshoot or miss the trap. Its fascinating stuff and must be quite somthing to do for real :)

Man, my hands was shaking like it was for real! And yeap I tried to "float" her down onto the deck and gave it ah lil too much power last second to correct the my decent rate, but it's ah rush when you get it right, after 4 more try's I finally got it, 3rd try I got it but I forgot to hit the brakes and kept rolling right off deck! LOL! ;D ;D ;D

Actually, I really didn't do to bad on a moving target FoxThree for ah rookie, I didn't really bob up and down much, the wind shoved me around ah bit but I kept her pretty level, I was just descending at too slow of a speed at 1st and started to drop like ah rock, 1st reaction was panic & hit the throttles ;D ;D ;D They make it look so easy on YouTube! ;D SMH!!

All I can say "Striker" is that you didn't make it easy on yourself. The night landing is challenging enough, but with an F-18 (?) that's way over my pay-grade. I've got two payware carriers, Alpha's Enterprise and Aerosoft's Boxer and I've had a lot of fun shooting landings onto their decks, but with prop AC. If you're not using arresting gear, one thing you can do to give yourself an edge is go into your weather setting and try a 35 knot head-wind. Another useful tip is when your landing an AC like Capt Sims C-130 onto a carrier, try reversing your props just before touchdown. It'll keep the AC out of the drink. Happy flying mate.............. That's just a problem FSX has - unless you land right in the center you going to get tossed to one side or the other.

Yeah Ziggy I kinda knew the dusk landing was a bad ideal for a 1st try lol, but I just really wanted to see how she looked with the night lights lite up, this is the really nice freeware USS Nimitz carrier group V2 offered on Simviation (type Nimitz in search to find her) and it all set up with that stuff. I like the free ware Sim Nation carrier too cause you can pilot it if you in to all that but the cables actually pull the plane back like the real ones, but you don't want to reverse engines with a jet carrier landing, actually soon as the wheels touch you want to go to max power just in case you miss the cable you can still take back off with no problems.

Carrier landings are difficult by the very nature of the fact that you are trying to land on friggen postage stamp in the middle of a roiling ocean....uppppp dowwwwn upppp downnnn, no side side danielsan.....uppppp, downnn

The carrier you are using, is it this one? TaskForceFSX Hi Def AI Pack V 5.0

I have tried to land on this several times and fall through the deck of the one that has all the t-45's on the deck....same as another. I wonder is there a way to make all versions have a hard deck?
