Buzzing about...

Postby Flying Trucker » Thu Jun 16, 2011 1:07 pm

Goodly afternoon all... :)

Well I did a short flight from Orillia (J4W) to Lake Simcoe Reg'l with a fly by Orillia (Mara) CNE2 which has a closed 3000ft runway.

These locations are in Ontario, Canada...

The trip has several waypoints and not direct by any means.
However the Nav Log said 19.4nm and a duration of 8 minutes even with the waypoints added.

The trip would probably take two to three hours by land vehicle and I stretched the trip to just over a hour by doing several water touch and goes...lots of fun... ;D

Very nice Doug. I especially like the first two and the last two. :)

But shouldn't the water rudders be in the up position in #2?

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Hi Larry...

Thanks for your comments... ;)

I typed an explanation just above the shot which I bet you missed... ;)

In shot two I had already done two or three approaches and takeoffs on the water and the hard surface runway.

I meant to drop the gear and instead dropped the water rudders which I immediately caught.

I was going to land on the grass strip but my first approach was way too fast and then my second approach some A1 traffic distracted me so I carried on with the flight plan.

In a real aircraft you will know when you takeoff or land with the water rudders down...believe me... ;)

Not sure if the FSX program simulates that or not...shall have to give it a try just for fun... ;D

You're right Doug, I missed it. I read the text at the top, but did not notice the text between the shots.  ;D

Goodly morning all... :)

I am wondering if I am leaving enough space between my pictures?

Think it is three spaces and then I type on the third... ;)

I don't think the problem is on your side Doug. I think it's a matter of getting in too big of a hurry and not paying enough attention to detail. Nasty habit.

Shot #2 is my favorite, it looks like a busy lil' airport  ;)

Thanks Larry...you are one busy fella though...don't know how you do it...a lot of your time is going to be taken up here keeping us in line... ;D

Thanks Pierre...they have a great airport and water aerodrome...I do believe one can still obtain their Float Endorsement there... ;)

They used to use Cessna 172s and Cessna 185s on floats for training, not sure about that now... :)
