Local FSX Flight with New Settings

Good afternoon all... :)

Here are some shots of a local cross-country simulated flight the old girl and I have made hundreds of times with quite a few stops inbetween.

Unfortunately none of the flight simulator programs from FS98, FS2000, FS2002, FS2004 and FSX have done justice to flying in Canada other than perhaps some locations on the West Coast.

Nice shots Doug.
Glad to see you're getting some good flight experiences.
One remark on your screenshots posted in this topic: the level of JPEG compression is too high, and this destroys a little bit the visual quality.
What tool are you using to convert your screenshots to .JPG extention ?

Appart from this, you should remember about using, from time to time, the additionnal views that let you place the aircraft out of the center of the picture, to give a more "scenic" impression :)

If you set the FPS to unlimited you'll get better frame rates. Your computer must be pretty decent to hold 24, so if you crank it up I'm betting you could at least get 30.

Thanks Chuck, Strawberry Yogurt, Stephane and Larry for your comments...always appreciated.

Stephane I am using BDSizer as it seems to be the simple one to use... ;D
I will move the aircraft around a little more to get it out of the center... :)

I did a Disk Clean Up and Defrag, restart and now I get this error when I start FSX.

Scenery.CFG File Error
Remote Scenery Directory () in Scenery Not Found
Click OK to continue...

I click it once it comes back...
Click it the second time and it goes away...

FSX seems to start OK... ::)

That means you are missing a previously installed scenery.
Did you delete a scenery file and forget to de-activate it in your scenery library? :)

EDIT Also, as Stephane said, you are over compressing your shots.
They are about 100 kb when they can be 155kb.
The max size is 1024....while your shots are 1000.
I think you will notice the difference ;)

Following the screenshot guidelines, you could theoretically
post 650 1kb shots, the total allowed for all your shots.
No pic should be more than 155 kb and the average of
your six shots would be 118 kb
. Of course this part of my
comment is probably redundant :D

I make that 108 kb. In practical terms the limit allows you 4 shots per topic at best quality of 150 kb, 5 shots at 125 kb or 6 shots at 100 kb - or a mixture of different file sizes depending on the graphics intensity of the images.

Cool shots! Live them! Glad you and FSX are friends  :D

It is a bit sad that there is more technicality to post screenshots on SimV than enjoy flying.... :(
