I have noticed a few posts of......I think Doug would say "rag and tube" aircraft lately (this one appears to be partially constructed of aluminum panels).

Ah, the Tiger Moth. Not the right Doug but I do know a bit about this lovely aeroplane. The fuselage is "rag and tube", steel tube covered with doped fabric. (The curved decking behind the cockpits is plywood.) The wings & tail feathers are of fabric covered wooden construction. The only aluminium panels are the engine cowling.

I was a little late getting on today...Easter Egg hunt for grandchildren and great grandchildren had priority...

The weather...cool and frosty...but we all had great fun and eggs and hot cross buns...

It was probably a standard building material back then......I just never really gave it a thought
