Crap! Engine fire!!

Postby pfevrier » Sat Apr 09, 2011 2:22 pm

During a leisure flight, I experienced a catastrophic engine failure, both engines went dead. Blame inexperience on this one! Fire went out, but had to safely "glide" to the ground. Good thing this airport was on my flight path... Enjoy!

Great shots. :)

I've never had an engine fire in the PBY.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

I bet that radome caused me to forget to feather the props  ;D And it was probably the reason why I wanted to get back to Terra Firma instead of going for the water. Maybe I just didn't want to swim back to shore  ;)
As far as engine fires, it seems that I really have to pay attention to my gauges otherwise I always burn them up... Patchz, do you fly with the "realistic engines" mode on?
