Seconded.  You're really reaching out with the lighting and color effects - very nice.

Hi Doug!

Nice shots here, I like the choice of plane and place :)

However, do you know that this excellent Spartan has been converted to real native FSX format ? (with bumpmapping and self-shadowing).
It's available at FSNorthWest.net (together with the Howard 500 from Milton Shuppe as well): http://fsnorthwest.net/index.php?option ... ry&catid=4

With a native aircraft, you won't get any issues with the clouds and props anymore ;)

Hi Stephane... :)

Okay I downloaded that file and I am wondering if it is the same download as is in the FSX Downloads?

I think I had it downloaded once and then to have different liveries I deleted it and downloaded the other. FSX kept giving me messages about having two files with the same name and that is why I deleted it.

Will install to see if it is the same download.

Thanks again... ;)

Goodly morning all... :)

Installed Spartan package from above Link.

Here is what my FSX SimObjects Airplanes shows:
Separate Folders 2
Spartan
FSNW_Spartan_E

When I start FSX I still get a warning that Files must have separate names and it referred to the Spartan.

Now to me they are separate names or at least the folders are.

That is why I deleted the FSNW_Spartan_E folder in the first place to get rid of the warning as there were more liveries in the other Spartan Folder.

Should I merge both folders or what else should I do to get rid of this warning.

Hi Doug. I think this error is caused by two or more aircraft having the same title= name in Aircraft.cfg.

Thanks Doug, should I just leave the file alone as it all works okay... :)

I suggest checking the Aircraft.cfg of both aircraft for duplicate title= names. Check each [fltsim.x] entry. If you find any with exactly the same name change one so it's different from all the others. You only need to add one letter or number. This should stop those error messages.

Hi Doug,

I think your problem comes from the fact that you have now two versions of the same plane. The folder nammed "Spartan" is certainly the old version, in FS9 format. The folder nammed "FSNW_Spartan_E" is the new version, in FSX SP2 native format.

Since the newest version is a rebuilt of the old one, there's a chance that the names specified in the aicraft.cfg are exactely the same as the names of the FS9 one. The solution has been provided by Hagar, you need to edit the aircraft.cfg of the FSNW Spartan to give it a new name.

The FSNW version has only one variant if I remember correctly, the original golden one. I don't know if the repaints from the FS9 version would work... probably not. But having this plane displayed without a single bug (no canopy problems, no prop hidding behind the clouds etc...) is definitely worth it ;)

Hi Stephane... :)

Yes Doug's solution worked and I now have the Spartan in many many liveries besides the new one.

Great aeroplane to fly about in.
