..in a newly painted Hawk.
This is a Hawk of No.5 squadron, based in India, 1942.

taking off from Darrington

climbing

leaving Darrington behind

feeling really small

a few clouds

nice outcrops

on final

I think the Curtiss Hawk was known as the "Mohawk" in British service...she was obsolete prior to World War Two...

Wow. Great scenery, and I want that plane!

The hawk was indeed considered obsolete, but they were used in India intill 1944 . Here's Wikipedia again:
